The company Vaude got founded in 1974 by Albrecht von Dewitz. The name Vaude was generated from his initials v. D. [fau´de]. Since 1974 the company puts down a successful mountain hike characterized with many milestones. Since 2001 Vaude works with the strict environmental standard bluesign® which controls the entire textile value chain. In 2008 Vaude officially becomame a member of bluesingn® and also got EMAS certified.
Vaude is known as an environment-friendly, social and family-friendly company. Under this aspect Vaude already won the economic price "Freedom and Responsibility". Vaude is official partner of the German Alpine Club and cooperation partner of WWF as well.
